Main Cheat Codes
NOTE: These are the main Guitar Hero II cheats that are usually applied by pressing down the right key combination. Please find the instructions on how to use these cheats below.
Hyper speed mode
Press Orange, Blue, Orange, Yellow, Orange, Blue, Orange, Yellow at the main menu. The frets will be moving faster. You can still save your game when this code is enabled. Repeat this code to disable its effect.
Performance mode
Press Yellow(2), Blue, Yellow(2), Orange, Yellow(2) at the main menu. Everything disappears except for the performance.
Air guitar mode
Press Yellow(2), Blue, Orange, Yellow, Blue at the main menu.
Eyeball head crowd
Press Blue, Orange, Yellow, Orange, Yellow, Orange, Blue at the main menu.
Monkey head crowd
Press Orange, Blue, Yellow(2), Orange, Blue, Yellow at the main menu.
Flaming head
Press Orange, Yellow, Orange, Yellow, Orange, Yellow at the main menu.
Horse head
Press Blue, Orange(2), Blue, Orange(2), Blue, Orange(2), Blue at the main menu.
Hints
NOTE: As their name suggests hints are not exactly Guitar Hero II cheats, and are usually just simple (but very useful) tips on how you can unlock secret level, features, find hidden areas and such. Hopefully these will make playing Guitar Hero II even more entertaining.
Pro-Face Off mode
Successfully complete the Career mode under the medium difficulty setting. You can now play against your friends with same notes.
Bonus guitars
Complete the indicated task to unlock the corresponding guitar at the shop.
Snaketapus: Complete Hard mode.
The Log: Get a five star rank on all songs in Expert mode.
Battle Axe: Complete Expert mode.
Casket: Complete Medium mode.
Eyeball: Get a five star rank on all songs in Hard mode.
Fish: Complete Easy mode.
U.S.A.: Get a five star rank on all songs in Easy mode.
Viking: Get a five star rank on all songs in Medium mode.
Bonus basses
Complete the indicated task to unlock the corresponding bass at the shop for Co-op mode.
Gibson Grabber: Complete 20 songs in Co-op mode.
Gibson SG: Complete 10 songs in Co-op mode.
Gibson Thunderbird: Complete 30 Songs in Co-op mode.
Lava Pear Musician Stingray: Complete 21 songs with a five star rank on the hard difficulty in Co-op mode.
FC or beat any song
To FC any song, first, select a song that has a somewhat easy beggining. Select that song, and play ONLY the beggining. Make sure that you are able to get at least x4 multiplier, then restart it. Let the song play through the selected part, and RIGHT when the menu at the end of the song comes up, remove the controller. It should say, "you have been rocking out too hard". Once you do that, plug it back in, and press ok. If you did it correctly, the fretboard should keep scrolling with no notes. Exit out, and go to career mode. You can now play any song, and it will be the part of the song you selected in practice mode. Now, just play that part, and listen to the rest of the song!
The "R0kk_0n" glitch
This glitch allows you to take any song part and play it over any song that you want.
Steps:
1. Choose your song.
2. Enter practice mode.
3. Pick the section you want to play.
4. Start that section on any speed(slowest is easiest to perform the glitch).
5. Unplug controller right when the options screen comes back up at the end of the section.
6. Reinsert controller and press continue. If notechart keeps scrolling, you performed the glitch.
7. Reset your PS2/Xbox 360(heeheehee) to undo the glitch.
Unlockable Legends
There are legends available in this game such as Johnny Cash, Carlos Santana, Shirley Manson, Matthew Bellamy, and Kurt Cobain. These Legends can be unlocked by simply getting at least 4 Stars on their Signature Song. Here Is a list of the characters and what songs you have to beat to unlock them.
Carlos Santana: Complete "Supernatural" with 4 Stars or more
Johnny Cash: Complete "Ring of Fire" with 4 Stars or more
Kurt Cobain: Finish "Smells Like Teen Spirit" with 4 Stars or more
Matthew Bellamy: Complete "Plug in Baby" with 4 stars or more
Shirley Mansion: Finish "Only Happy When it Rains" with 4 stars or more
Complete the indicated task to unlock the corresponding bass at the shop for Co-op mode.
