Spanish fan site Neverwinteros got hold of the first details of a brand new expansion pack for Neverwitner Nights. At first, the info was regarded as a rumor, but a bunch of people at Obsidian Entertainment have confirmed it, including Anthony Davis, Rob McGinnis and Marketing/PR producer Matthew Rorie.

It was touch and go it seems, but old Gordon Freeman finally got the better of Nancy Drew. Yep, according to NPD's latest chart for top 10 best-selling PC games in the US (for the week ending October 13), The Orange Box has outsold other titles currently on the market.

Coming via Neverwinter Nights 2 Vault is news about an imminent launch of a downloadable NWN 2 Adventure Pack. Entitled Neverwinter Nights 2: Mysteries of Westgate, this addition to Obsidian's RPG comes from Ossian Studios, creators of the popular Darkness Over Daggerford module for NWN.

Actually, this is good news. If there is anything I dread about Neverwinter Nights 2 is that Obsidian would release an unfinished product. Judging from the latest (relatively minor) delay, both Atari and Obsidian are making sure they playtest their product right.

I just received the updated Atari Product Lineup which has NeverWinter Nights 2 listed as a spring 2006 release. The sequel is under development by Feargus Urquhart and the folks at his company Obsidian Entertainment, who are also working on Knights of the Old Republic 2.

I usually don't post about Q&A's on other sites, but this one is particularly interesting. 1UP has interviewed Obsidian's Feargus Urquhart (his company is currently working on KOTOR 2 and NWN 2, and he used to be the head honcho at Black Isle Studios -- the group of guys behind the IceWind Dale and Planescape Torment series).

Bioware has registered its new engine with the patent office but they won't tell us what its for yet. There is a theory however that it is either for a new unnamed project or Neverwinter Nights 2, as both engines are named after astronomical phenomenon.

NeverWinter Nights 2 Officially Announced
Atari has announced NeverWinter Nights 2. The project won't be developed by BioWare, however, but will instead be given to Obsidian Entertainment. Obsidian are the ex Black Isle folks that are currently working on Knights of the Old Republic II: The Sith Lords, the sequel to another gem by the Canadian team.
