Morning folks. Another working week comes to a close and we celebrate whoever invented the weekend all those years ago (hm, shame they didn't invent a three-day weekend). Anyway, our upcoming reviews for Final Fantasy XIII-2 and Kingdoms of Amalur will suffer a slight delay due to the fact that I feel like crap. It's probably a stomach flu of some sort, but suffice it to say I cannot remain seated in a chair for too long and... Um, I'll be right back...

Czech development studio Warhorse Studios -- whose members worked on games like Mafia (1,2) and Operation Flashpoint -- announced that they plan to utilize the CryEngine 3 for the company's new role-playing game.

"We looked at every major technology out there and CryENGINE 3 suits our needs perfectly. We are confident it will allow us to make the vision for our game come true," said Warhorse exec producer Martin Klima.

The devs added: "The debut title for the studio will combine open-world experience with a rich story and innovative gameplay elements," as explained by the developers.

Open-world, eh? Could it be that everyone wants to hope on the Skyrim-triggered winning bandwagon of free-roam single-player RPGs? It certainly appears so. Oh well, we can't say anything for sure at this point, because no specifics were given regarding the game itself. Let's just wait and see, shall we...

Time Warner and subsidiary publisher Warner Bros. revealed that Batman: Arkham City, the action adventure released under the company's publishing arm, is still selling rather well and has currently shipped 6 million units worldwide since the game's release back in October 2011.

GSpot reports: "Time Warner's Filmed Entertainment business, which houses its game development unit, saw revenues rise 9 percent to $12.6 billion during its fiscal year ended December 31, 2011. The company said revenues benefited from a "stronger" game release slate and called out the aforementioned Batman: Arkham City, as well as Mortal Kombat and "several" Lego titles as "key" contributors to its bottom line. The company has not revealed specific sell-through figures for the Caped Crusader title, but the first-week shipment tally for the game stood at 4.6 million. The NPD Group placed the game as the seventh-best selling title at US retailers in 2011."

Yep, the franchise is doing pretty good.

Wow, yesterday's announcement of Sleeping Dogs really took me by surprise, so that's good news; at least I think it is. Maybe for some of you guys, yes? After all, my experience with the True Crime series hasn't been all that exciting, so I don't remember it as fondly as some people might. All in all, any game that raises suddenly out of the ashes of cancellation should be given half a chance at least. The announcement trailer kicks plenty of assage, but let's not jump to any conclusions. They still need to incorporate something unique to the whole package, otherwise we'll be facing yet another GTA and Saints Row look-alike.
"pfft, screw all of that, when you have this for the sheer loling ... - Kurio"9
