Amazon Has Stopped Selling SimCity

Despite EA increasing the server capacity for SimCity over the next few days, Amazon.com has stopped selling the digital version of the game, switching it to "Currently unavailable." A special note underneath the listing also says, "Many customers are having issues connecting to the "SimCity" servers. EA is actively working to resolve these issues, but at this time we do not know when the issue will be fixed. Please visit https://help.ea.com/en/simcity/simcity for more information."

Unsurprisingly, the Amazon reviews for the game have it at just 1/5 stars after 877 customer reviews.

I don't think Maxis deserves this - the new game is quite good in itself.

EA, however, deserves to be torched for this shit. Burn the witch!

I think we come back around to the idea of EA being the just-fkn-pure-evil of gaming industry. Anyway... this miserable situation serves them right.

Maxis only exists as a brand you are fooling urself if you think they have any say in what they do.

Fucking EA bullshit. I hate that company with a passion!

With all the hate EA gets (rightfully so) it's still not the worst (and is actually one of the better companies) compared to the likes of Ubisoft, Actvision, etc, which is both sad and pathetic.
Duffey: Really? Ubisoft still releases games like rayman orig…

Yeah. I've heard some nasty gamer-rage over this in the last few days.

No denying it, this really is exclusively EA's fault. You'd think EA would've learned from Blizzard's now infamous example that the always-online, server data streaming method of de facto DRM is only going to work if the servers CAN ABSOLUTELY HANDLE IT, and the consequences of failure can be disastrous for a brand's reputation. The Diablo IP is stained by that failure, and now we can add SimCity to the list.

EA's failure to correctly anticipate and prepare for the server load is on their heads, and I'm sure the decision to go always-online with the game was also solely their decision. The guys at Maxis must be freaking livid right now, seeing their favorite franchise get dragged through the mud because their publisher fucked up. it'd be nice if EA has the integrity to write them a check for lost sales, by way of an apology.
KraGeRzR: They probably will whine about "lost sales". But they…
Terminator: EA having integrity? Don't hold your breath Cheddar, …
Cheddar: No, I expect not. Same goes for just about any pub…

Reeks of the Diablo 3 launch. They will get the server issues fixed eventually, possibly. But I will check back in 6+ months after the first 10 patches get released.

I can't find fault with the buyers this time. EA is completely to blame this time. I'm still pissed off they ruined another franchise I used to love.

Well....was thinking about it but not anymore. After Diablo3 ...I am totally done with always on needed to play my game.
