“Assassin’s Creed is one of our most well-loved brands,” said Alain Corre, managing director EMEA at Ubisoft. “The worldwide interest for the brand, coupled with the energy and creativity of our press team made for a winning combination and Ubisoft is proud to receive this Guinness World Record.”
Gaz Deaves, Editor of Guinness World Records Gamer’s, said: “The evidence submitted by Ubisoft was extremely thorough, with full details of every publication that featured the game. It’s been a pleasure researching this category and we were pleasantly surprised that Assassin’s Creed II took the record – I’m sure plenty of commentators (including myself) would have predicted another well-known game winning the title instead, and this achievement is even more impressive in view of the other 2009 releases that Assassin’s Creed II was able to beat."

What would you have predicted to be the most cover featured video game?
I don't read gaming magazines so I don't know.
I wonder if those features had anything to do with their DRM.
AC2 was all over covers leading up to its release on the consoles, back in '09. Ubi's new DRM wasn't even out then, and iirc, not even fully known to the public yet as to its nature.
They should be so lucky with these 2nd one. The DRM will hurt them and hopefully they'll think twice about using it again.
interesting fact: i have come to find out girls liked Asscreed more than boys.
If there would be women in AT I would ask whether they find Ezio hot.
But look 'ere:
He's italian, athletic, dresses flamboyantly and goes all over Venice - the city that almost every female covets to visit...
So my conclusion is... next AC will be set in Paris.
