Batman: Arkham City Shipped 6 Million

Time Warner and subsidiary publisher Warner Bros. revealed that Batman: Arkham City, the action adventure released under the company's publishing arm, is still selling rather well and has currently shipped 6 million units worldwide since the game's release back in October 2011.

GSpot reports: "Time Warner's Filmed Entertainment business, which houses its game development unit, saw revenues rise 9 percent to $12.6 billion during its fiscal year ended December 31, 2011. The company said revenues benefited from a "stronger" game release slate and called out the aforementioned Batman: Arkham City, as well as Mortal Kombat and "several" Lego titles as "key" contributors to its bottom line. The company has not revealed specific sell-through figures for the Caped Crusader title, but the first-week shipment tally for the game stood at 4.6 million. The NPD Group placed the game as the seventh-best selling title at US retailers in 2011."

Yep, the franchise is doing pretty good.

Arkham City is the best Super Hero game I've ever played. I'm glad it's still selling well!

Let's just hope that the message they take from this is to keep focusing on making epic games - and don't start using their new found wealth to act like another EA or Activision or Ubisoft
