Bungie's Working On An MMOG
Uros "Vader" Pavlovic
01:18 am EDT @ March 04th, 2011
During a panel session at the Game Developers Conference 2011 Bungie lead network
engineer David Aldridge officially confirmed that the well-known developer is
indeed working on a "massively multiplayer action game," which coincides with
all those rumors (yep, everyone's been whispering about this for quite a while
actually).
Anyway, the game doesn't have a title at the moment, albeit this is, as you should know, the first non-Halo game Bungie is working on since joining MS (back in the day, when they first started developing Halo: Combat Evolved).
Since Activision is behind this, it all makes perfect sense. I'm not saying this is going to be a crappy game just because it's an MMOG that years to outsell World of Warcarft, but I am saying is that the talented people at Bungie will, once again, be butt-fucked by a publisher for a franchise which they are probably going to work on for the next 20 years (or indeed for the rest of their adult lives).

Calling it, Halo MMOG along the lines of maybe what APB tried.
They could have gone it on their own and been just fine... it's not as if they're some fledgling studio with no brand penetration, necessitating a virtual slave relationship with a publisher... quite the opposite, obviously.
If they're doing an MMOG for Activision now, it's because they want to make an MMOG for Activision.
Frankly, I think this just reveals Bungie's true nature. They're infected with the same disease from Halo that Blizzard has gotten from WoW -- after spending so long gathering the eggs of a golden goose, they've become addicted to cash-cows, to the safe formulas... to the point that genuine artistic ambition is no longer much of a consideration.
However, Bungie isn't actually as talented as Blizzard, so they may not get away with it.
