Call of Juarez: Gunslinger Announced
Ah, yes, Call of Juarez: The Cartel, one of the rotten misfortunes of gaming in 2011. What happened in Techland that made them decide to release a game that was clearly inferior to its excellent predecessor in almost every way imaginable. Not only that, but bugs and glitches infested the game practically every step of way. Another lousy decision was to set Call of Juarez against a disappointingly unoriginal modern-day backdrop.

Well, Techland means to change that with Call of Juarez: Gunslinger, which is going to return to the roots of the franchise by offering a Western-themed setting, and giving players a chance to meet notorious figures such as Billy the Kid, Pat Garrett and Jesse James.

The game will be released in 2013 for Windows, Xbox LIVE Arcade and PSN.

Here's a bit more info: "Giving gamers the tools to take down the best, the Concentration Mode made famous by the series returns with a twist - allowing gamers to unleash a flurry of bullets while dodging others. Along with their gun slinging abilities, gamers will hone their skills and acquire new abilities in a series-first skill system."

I liked the first two, the last one I'm pretending didn't existed, WHAT WERE THEY THINKING?

I remain ambivalent. The latest CoJ was like a slap in the face. I'm not buying into any hype over another installment until they prove they're back in proper form. They certainly need to have fired whoever wrote Cartel's plot/characters/premise, first.

Frankly, I'd rather just see Techland walk away from the CoJ franchise and move on to something else. This strikes me a bit like dry-well pumping.

CoJ was buggy, uninteresting and cliched... but one thing i actually enjoyed - design of urban maps. still waiting for anything close to this one in other games... so far all i see is too much 'wanna make it look artsy'.
