Cataclysm Hits UK Charts, Still Not Better Than Black Ops
Call of Duty: Black Ops is still top dog in the United Kingdom, according to the latest weekly sales charts over there. Blizzard's expansion pack is only 3rd on the chart, right after FIFA 11. Of course, give it time and I think WoW will rule... or will it?

1. CoD: Black Ops (Activision)
2. FIFA 11 (EA)
3. World of Warcraft: Cataclysm (Activision)
4. Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood (Ubisoft)
5. Gran Turismo 5 (Sony)
6. Just Dance 2 (Ubisoft)
7. Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit (EA)
8. Donkey Kong Country Returns (Nintendo)
9. Professor Layton & the Lost Future (Nintendo)
10. Wii Fit Plus (Nintendo)

Just Dance 2 still up there... resilitent little bugger.

that reads like my list of top 10 to never bother with.

I'm glad Cata isn't doing that well. I expect there won't be any "fastest selling bla bla evar" bragging. Blizzard wasted a lot of time reworking some of the old world, when most fans wanted entirely new content. Which is less than half of what the previous expansions offered.

They say you get from lvl 80 to 85 in 10-12 hrs, and that's in super casual mode. The crazy sob who got to 85 first, did it in less than 5 hrs. According to other reports, another guy made it in 3. So even in my slow ass play style, what exactly would I be paying full price and a monthly fee for ? 4 days of fun ? A week maybe ? Two weeks, if I play only 1-2 hrs a day ?

I've seen the changes to the old world right after they got implemented and while they're nice, they don't really mean anything to someone who doesn't feel like leveling new chars to experience it. I wouldn't waste so much time on the game even if I could. I got my lvl 80 hunter and I wanna explore new places with it, just like I did in Burning Crusade and Wrath of the Lich King.

I expect at least 3 more expansions (85-90, 90-95 & 95-100), all of them with modest amount of content (compared to BC & WotLK), and fans will buy it because they're hooked. Of course there's nothing stopping Blizz from making 15 lvls worh of content in one expansion, except... guess ! I'm waiting for the game to cost less than the monthly fee, or I'll buy it from a guy who knows a guy who can get it at half price.

If Cata will indeed have only a modest succes by WoW standards, that will act as a wake up call for it's developers and maybe next time they'll concentrate on pleasing high lvl players, who represent the overwhelmingly vast majority of the player base.

Since this is an all formats chart this a very strong placement for a PC/MAC only game. As for Cat itself I'm enjoying it but I'm a one character player I don't do alts as I can't be arsed doing the same content more than once so it's unlikely I'll be playing it in a few months.
