Cliff Bleszinski, design director at Epic Games, has officially confirmed his departure from the development studio after 20 years. The well-known game designer didn't go much into detail as to why he made this decision other than saying that he's embarking on the "next stage" of his career.
"I've been doing this since I was a teenager, and outside of my sabbatical last year, I have been going non-stop," Bleszinski said in a statement. "I literally grew up in this business, as [Epic Games president Mike Camps] likes to say. And now that I'm grown up, it's time for a much needed break."
This is the second time we've seen an industry veteran to leave his company. If you'll recall, both BioWare co-founders also left their studio about a month ago (and went on to pursue the glorious career of beer brewing).
Cliff Bleszinski is best known for his contribution to the Unreal franchise, in addition to playing a major role in the creating one of the most popular shooters on the market - Gears of War (and the succeeding sequels, of course).
Despite of what many of you might think about Cliff, his work was an essential step in the evolution of video games, so from that perspective, we'll certainly miss him.

Still good luck on his future endeavors and hopefully someone more reasonable will take over.
