The new range includes four different models from an entry level gaming PC to an extreme specification model which is optimised to the highest level.
Bala Keilman, CEO for Commodore Gaming, commented "The all new Commodore range of PC's will allow gamers of all levels to enjoy the best that PC gaming has to offer. From beginners to professionals, Commodore Gaming ensures that only the very best components are provided to deliver the ultimate PC gaming experience. We also wanted to bring something new to the market, in the spirit of our Commodore heritage, and have worked hard to design a fully personalised product".
Promotech also claims that they have the system specs expected for the first wave:
- Intel CoreT2 Extreme quad-core processor
- Asus P5N32-E nForce 680i SLI motherboard
- Two 150 GB 10,000 RPM SATA drives in RAID 0, with spare 500GB 7,200 RPM
SATA drive
- 4GB (2 x 2048) Corsair Dominator memory at 1066 MHz
- Two nVidia 8800 GTX video cards
- Creative Labs X-Fi sound card
- Windows Vista Ultimate
Sounds too good to be true if you ask me.
Thanks Shack for the heads-up.

Now they are using PC hardware and the Windows OS? WTF? I already optimize Windows just fine by turning all the crap services off, loading the latest drivers, overclocking the CPU/GPU/RAM, optimizing the registry, making a few registry tweaks, and defragging the hard drive. Humbug to them!
I mean, Commodore as a product died a long time but the brand name is still alive in many an older gamer's mind. If they manage to design a cool looking box, perhaps with additional peripherals such as keyboards and mice, then I can see the potential.
It sort of reminds me of what the former Infogrames did with the Atari brand name. Cheesy for sure, but it seems more or less to have paid off.
The sky isn't falling.
has specs for four different machines and what they mean by 'personalized'.
Now that Dell owns Alienware, what other big-name companies still exist other than Voodoo? Is Falcon still around? I never bought one of those gaming-specific PCs since I just build my own. Is there really any point?
