CryEngine 3 in All Its Beauty
Crysis 3 is on its way, but the technology behind just took a colossal dump on every other video tech I've seen thus far:

Oh and why do I have this ridiculous notion that it's going to look best on the PC ;)

I've never cracked open the Cry Engine Editor but I'd like to someday. Maybe if I buy it dinner.....

you know what would look good with this engine ? Half Life 3.
you know why i don't give a fuck ? it's used for a shallow FPS game that requires the IQ of a poodle.

Crysis 3 and all its fans can go fuck themselves.
Terminator: Agreed, the Crysis games have a horrible storyline. T…

Lol, Vodoo
Tech demo/video does not necessarily means that this amount of detail will be in the game. Anyone remember Cryengine 3 demo's before Crysis 2 came out? Two different ballgames. Crytek are proficient liars and know how to get people hyped. Crysis 2 was a joke and inferior sequel to Crysis and 3 will be continuing the crappy flaming torch.

EricHalfBee: I'd like to see that too Vodoo but what you're asking…
EricHalfBee: Hmm I 'sort of' take it back: the water in Bioshock.

Crysis is the kind of game I go nutty for. As people said, it was more like a tech demo. I love tech demos, because whatever shortcomings they have in the story department, the gameplay is what got all the love, and in games, that's mostly what I care about.

Crysis 2, on the other hand, was rushed and overhyped by a studio that was deluded into attributing their success to the wrong factors. They added all kinds of nice graphical features to the game, but even that was slapdash. I would have preferred that once again they spent more time on the gameplay than on anything else.
Here's an article on why they failed, graphics-wise:

It was rushed and the studio has fallen to the same lies as other studios, in the past. They may dig themselves out of the hole with Crysis 3 but I'm not counting on it.

Top Secret Toad Tech! LOL

But yeah this is a current gen console game first, so bring on the suckage until they release the 20GB high rez texture packs...

Holy shit, that tech demo is excellent! Too bad it's being used for Crysis 3. I won't buy a new PC for that game. If my GTX 560 can get medium settings on it, I will be satisfied!

I played Crysis 2 and decided to go back and see what Crysis looks like. It was released FIVE YEARS ago. I have a HD 7970 (currently's AMD's top card). I put everything as high as it goes (with AA @ 2x) and it STILL doesn't run at 60 FPS. This is a five year old game and the FPS sometimes dips to the 20s.

This looks very pretty and I'm always impressed by what Crytek show, but I know that I won't be able to play it as its meant to be on current hardware. Maybe in another five years.

Although it may be five years old, it still looks fucking amazing. The only thing that looks five years are the rocks; for some reason they used really low resolution rock textures. The trees, the vegetation, the lighting; Crytek are really good at what they do.

They haven't treated the PC community with respect since they began Crysis 2 development.

They dug themselves so deep, to actually devolve from an eagle to a fucking worm, I can't really give them a whole lot of respect.

They'll release Crysis 3 and then they're done for good. They won't be putting another effort into something as lovely as the first Crysis or their majestic debut, Far Cry.

Perhaps it's due to the waves that Crysis 1's graphics caused among the gaming community. I remember 2007 perfectly. One half whinged about not having a fast enough PC, the other half laughed and fapped at the visuals.

It was all about the graphics. That seemed to send a clear message to Crytek, because now that's all they care about.

As to Cryengine - I love it. It puts amateurish and shitty game engines like Gamebryo to shame, Working with the engine is a joyous experience. It's fucking gorgeous to boot.
