Dark Souls Not 'Too Difficult'

The spiritual successor to Demon's Souls is, rather obviously, the spiritual successor to Demon's Souls and not a sequel to Demon's Souls. That's something the developer are keen to point out. They are, in fact, stressing that it's a completely new game and that precious little ties it to the previous game.

Another thing the developers wish to clarify is that the game won't be too difficult, as initially promised. The first one was quite tough, after which they made an announcement that Dark Souls will twice as difficult. Well, it appears they've had a change of heart, so now they are still making a tough game, although not a game that's impossible to beat and makes gamers throw sharp, penetrative objects at their monitors and TV sets.

Currently playing Demons Soul and is fucking nuts. Only made it to the 2nd boss of the first stage and is hard as hell in the first place to play this game. Still, a hell of a lot of fun to play.

I gave up on Demon's Souls because it's so hard. Games are meant to be RELAXING, not stressful!

I like hard games, a tough challenge is always fun, if I wanted something relaxing I would've gone for a massage.

@Terminator - Exactly. I don't understand the concept of 'hard' games on the onset itself. Games should be challenging but not frustrating and not as much to zap the fun out of it. Leave the hard ass difficulty to 'expert' difficulty. 'Normal' should be just that, and should have the perfect balance to enjoy the game first.

I don't mind a challenge, but DS was challenging for the sake of it. It's a lot of tedious trial and error until you figure out what you're supposed to do. I'm sure it's a pleasure when you have a guide and know how to avoid that giant fucking dragon that keeps strafing you as you try to cross the only bridge forward, but playing it without any intel is awful.

I wouldn't say Demon's Souls is too hard. Some parts require you to die as trial and error, and with repetition you learn certain strategies not to fuck up in the future. You get good enough to avoid dying in situations you don't expect by being cautious and tedious. With that said, the really annoying aspect is starting all over from the beginning of the level if you die.

In my case, I suck so bad at navigation (in all video games) so that was my downfall. If I worked at finding my way around better, I would still be going all-out on DS.
