Dead Space 2 & Dead Space 3

Dead Space appears to be another franchise from EA, which the industry giant intends to milk all the way. Apart from having a live-action Dead Space in the works, the company revealed it's developing two video games - Dead Space 2, as well as Dead Space 3.

More on this over at Variety.

Dead Space was a great game, for me anyway. Making it into a movie just looks like pushing it a bit. There are too many sci-fi horrors in Hollywood at the moment.

As for the game sequels, well, such a move was expected from Electronic Arts. Let's hope they bring something new an interesting to the setting.

Milkage is all EA knows how to do.

The article doesn't make clear whether or not the second and third entries into the franchise are being worked on simultaneously, and this possibility is the only thing that bothers me about any of this.

I freaking adored Dead Space, so I'm delighted that it'll have sequels, naturally. But if the next two games are being developed at the same time, that must mean at least one of them isn't being created by the same dev-team that made the first game. And if that's true, then it represents a huge red-flag, as far as I'm concerned.

"There are too many sci-fi horrors in Hollywood at the moment."

Eh? It doesn't seem that way to me. What there's too much of right now are remakes and superhero movies (although I think at least the latter fad is finally starting to cool off).

That being said, I don't have a great deal of confidence in D.J. Caruso. He made 'Disturbia', which admittedly was pretty good, but the rest of his portfolio mostly consists of journeyman writing of various TV show episodes. His most recent major work was 'Eagle Eye', and that wasn't exactly inspired stuff.

How someone could say too many sci-fi anything... Look at the number of friggin feel-good chick flicks.. or "scary-movie" style garbage they keep pumping out. =(

Dead Space was my Game of the Year for 2008, and I'm really looking forward to a sequel. While EA is, of course, known for milkage, they did real good with Dead Space, so unless it proves to be an uninspired cookie-cutter sequel, I'll hold off on the negativity for this one.

wonder if they will be worked on by the same team who made the first one. This is ea we are talking here so it's never certain
