Finished Mass Effect 1 and started Mass Effect 2 - yes, I'm that much of an idiot to waste my precious time playing these two titles all over again. But the simple truth is I'm having fun. Only somehow I reached the upsetting conclusion that I had more fun playing Mass Effect 1 than the second installment. Why? Well, mostly because I do miss having a real-time inventory system and I do miss having to change armor and weapons on the spot, as much as I miss the elevator rides that trigger conversations between characters. Even miss the damn Mako and its fucked-up physics. Loved exploring the planets. It gave the whole game a sense of scale, while it all feels a bit more restricted in ME 2. Now, I'm not saying ME 2 is crap (you all know how I feel about that game), but it's just that no matter how much fun you're having shooting, conversing with characters, exploring the various locations and so on, you're bound to miss the RPG stuff... if you've enjoyed the original, that is. I know I have. And I do think Mass Effect 1 is the best in the series.

The first one is the best in my mind too, but that doesn't mean I didn't like the later ones.

Playing Mass Effect trilogy is by no means wasting of time. Actually, it is one of better ways to spend time.

I preceeded playing ME3 by playing ME1 & 2 back to back to make sure I was happy with my decisions in my final saves (Hence why I haven't finished 3 yet..) 1 is vastly superior to 2 in scale, scope and story (and the inventory). Funny thing, I remember feeling pissed at how simplified the stats/ inventory were for ME1 at the time (and Dragon Age) as an RPG whore, but now I'd be grateful of even that level of customisation in a game today.

Mass Effect 1 will always be my favorite game. It's the only true RPG of the Mass Effect series. Too bad Bioware went the FPS route with Mass Effect 2 and 3. I guess RPG games are too complicated for the mindless action fans.

As far as wasting your time on these games, it's not really a waste of time. The Mass Effect universe is one of the best Sci-Fi universes I've seen. Too bad the Biowhores fucked everything up in the end.

EDIT: I went to Hunger Games yesterday, and that is a damn good movie. Don't believe that "teen romance" bullshit, everyone can relate to Hunger Games. I give it 10/10, perfect movie!

ME1 was fucking awesome.
Doomsday. Mar 25 2012, 02:10 am EDT

ME3's ending negates everything awesome about ME1 and ME2!

I wanted to play them again but then i remembered how it all ends and just couldn't bear to play!

I never played the first one. I tried the second and I found it boring, repetitive, boring. the third has an obscene run animation that upsets my stomach. maby I should try the first instalment.
MajFauxPas: You mean the "Shepard's gotta go baaad" animation? :p

Restarted Mass Effect 1 last night, will continue a steady gaming session until april when Bioware releases the DLC for a more wholesome sense of completion.

Happy endings are a cliché, true beyond any shadow of doubt BUT im well aware that fans of Lord of the Rings trilogy relish the fact it all concluded on a cheerful note.

Fiction is not restricted to happy stories however think about the bible and the promises of heaven, positive fiction which brainwashed the majority of the earth's population.....not saying that in a completely derogative sense, just pointing out people cling on to things which don't make you leap out the nearest window.

Games are interactive and are slowly becoming the equivalent of books, possibly surpassing them in the near future much like the light-bulb did with the candle. (they have not disappeared, they are still cherished for their uses in romance...or sex)

The developers at Bioware took criticism with great aplomb always boasting in their defence about how Mass Effect was fiction where choice stands at the core of storytelling and their prized creation. Well, if choice is what made the series, the lack thereof in its final moments proves them wrong.

I want to choose if Shepard dies like William Wallace or settles down on some distant planet milking space cows on a farm with Ashley or Liara or Garrus.

I do enjoy ME2 combat way over ME, BUT i do prefer ME in every other aspect.
I just still cant understand how making combat better has to prevent a good rpg element such as inventory and costumization *sigh*

On a side note, how moddable is ME2? ME feeling could easily be brought back with good modding

I'm a few hours into Mass Effect 3, and I'm not happy with the bugs in the game. Not to mention the shading problems. Bioware found time to make day one DLC, but they couldn't fix some of these bugs? Bullshit, they just got greedy. We need some patches for this game!

Mass Effect 2--->Mass Effect 1

...only becasue of Mordin. Great character. Funny as fuck
Reikhardt: True. Still making me piss in ME3 too.
RenegadeCZ Mar 25 2012, 03:11 pm EDT
Well, ME2 has an edge over ME1 in many aspects, too. For example the characters, they are way better written and more interesting in ME2, not to mention there's more of them.
