Far Cry 3 Reveals Plenty of 'Insanity'
Far Cry 3 has officially been confirmed by Ubisoft Montreal. This is exciting news for us, because we really did enjoy Far Cry 2, despite some of its flaws (you can read more about that in our Far Cry 2 review).

Now then, Far Cry 3 is being developed by Ubisoft Montréal, Ubisoft Shanghai and Massive Entertainment. The game is set to appear sometime in 2012 for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and Windows PC.

The main character of the game, Jason Brody, is "a man alone at the edge of the world, stranded on a mysterious tropical island. In this savage paradise where lawlessness and violence are the only sure thing, players dictate how the story unfolds, from the battles they choose to fight to the allies or enemies they make along the way. As Jason Brody, players will slash, sneak, detonate and shoot their way across the island in a world that has lost all sense of right and wrong."

“Far Cry 3 brings something new and unexpected, while still building upon the foundations of excellence that are inherent to the Far Cry brand,” said Dan Hay, producer at Ubisoft Montréal. “Whether you’re already a fan of the Far Cry series or jumping into the franchise for the very first time, you’re going to be blown away by the gritty story and epic adventure we’re going to deliver.”

Even though graphics look old and ugly, the gameplay seems original and interesting. My jaw has opened in order to inhale a larger quantity of air. It must be out of sheer excitement.

Well, that guy in the video is a pretty good definition of an insane killer and if I found myself facing someone like that in the middle of a fucking jungle, I'd probably scream my lungs out.

So I was wondering.. why do you have to untie your hands first in order to untie your legs? Seing as it took like one second and no effort to do the latter?
touretul [mail] Jun 07 2011, 05:59 am EDT
Looks like it's back to basics. First Far Cry. Which is nice.
daddy74 [mail] Jun 07 2011, 08:41 am EDT
Yea - like it, too. Back to the good old Men and them. Nice.

Far Cry can suck my respawning checkpoint. I said "never again" after the last one.

And people who preface everything with "fuckin" are just as annoying in a game as in real life.

I recently bought the Ubisoft 4 game deal on Steam and was disappointed with the repetitiveness of all the games. Other than the scripted scene at the start, it looks just as bland as the games I purchased in the sale.

Took me over a year to beat Far Cry 2. I could only play it in small segments throughout the day, and it took so fucking long to get from point a to point b. I hope they learned their lesson from that because as much as I love the environment, it becomes sickening seeing the same tree and cliffwhile traveling along the same roads dozens of times. Almost unbearably repetitive.

Hope it'll be more along the lines like the Crytek's Far Cry. Colorful, vast, and not such a damned suffering travel system.

loved the 1st one, 2nd one was... ok (although the landscapes were incredible)... definitely gonna play this one

Far Cry 2 did have tedious respawning and suffered from a mish mash of gaming genres :massive firefight outside, run into building and straight into a peaceful cutscene but the setting was innovative, the fires looked great and the scenery was jaw droppingly beautiful especially when it rained.
