Gears of War 2 Now Available for Purchase

The official word from MS and Epic is that the highly anticipated X360-exclusive shooter Gears of War 2 is available for purchase. The Standard Edition will cost you $59.99, whereas the Limited Edition carries the price of $69.99.

The Limited Edition, by the way, features a hardbound book titled “Beneath the Surface: An Inside Look at ‘Gears of War 2,’” and a bonus DVD containing the making-of documentary... Hm, I'll bet they threw footage of CliffyB taking a shower.

This game is fucking amazing. The graphics are easily the best on any console by far and there's just so much more variety than GoW 1. I'm drowning in splooge.

Yeah it's a real shame Epic didn't put all that effort towards a truly good series like Unreal. Fuck Epic for killing off Unreal. I hope they all die and burn slowly. Just remember this Gears will never come close to that which is Unreal!

Agreed, that GOW is more awesome than Unreal. I just finished GOW 2 myself, and I must say that is one long game. I absolutely love the over-the-top violence in the series, and they somehow managed to outdo themselves in this second game. Gears of War 2 is definitely one of the better games this year.

^Not so long. 2 days and i am already on Act 4/5. But yea, it's much longer than the original.

Gears 2 is amazing. The story has weight, there is more blood, more action, huge monsters, the weapons are refined, the flow is better, better script, better direction and screenplay, better voice acting. Yup, it is definitely a fantastic sequel. The graphics are not a huge improvement. But i can see the various touches of the UE3.5. Water is just brilliant but very inconsistent. I am thoroughly enjoying the game. Good stuff!

Just a heads up for any Canadian customers, the Limited Edition comes with a French hardcover artbook. The English artbook included is only softcover.

The game itself is awesome, and I can definitely see many subtle graphical improvements. Currently on Act 2's final Chapter.

Thus far Epic's done a very nice job, and they've improved a lot of my gripes over the original game.
