Gears of War Prequel?

Nothing's certain at this point, of course. UK
IGN reports that during the NY Comic Con '09 a few hints were made that
we might witness a Gears of War prequel. Joshua Ortega, the writer of Gears
of War 2, addressed attendees New York Comic-Con Gears of War panel. When asked
if there are plans for a prequel that deals "with the events of E-Day,
the day the Locust emerged and attacked the human race," he simply replied:
"You will not be disappointed in the next ten years. It's a ten-year plan. Gears is long-term. The lancer is the new lightsaber."
It wouldn't be a bad idea actually.
