GoldenEye to Return?
Publisher Activision seems to be determined to reinvigorate as many franchises as they can. The company recently registered a web domain for BloodStoneGame.com - which ties into those old reports we've been getting about a new Bond game.

More importantly, they've also registered a site at GoldenEyeGame.com, suggesting a possible game related to Rare's once popular N64 FPS.

To be honest, I was never too crazy about those Bond games. Although there were a few good ones in the past, they were never as entertaining and engaging as, say, Monolith's N.O.L.F. games.

Source.

UPDATE: Well, just thought I'd embed this little video that shows footage from the old GoldenEye (N64) game:

Fuck! Yes! Goldeneye on 64 is still one of my favourite games of all time. That game was the only shooter on console I ever really liked or managed to play (perfect dark had it's moments).

Going by recent trends though, this should be epic failure.

Oh this brings back memories. Goldeneye was THE best video game on the 64. I was obsessed with it for months.

yeah goldeneye was awesome. perfect dark was great as well. i think I preferred perfect dark actually, mostly for the improvements it had to the game over goldeneye (like holding down A and being able to swap to any weapon quickly). the multiplayer was also much better on perfect dark too, not that goldeneye was bad. dont have an xbox though so i've no idea how perfect dark zero was.

I remember after a couple of years when rare released the button codes for goldeneye on their site, after all that time they said that no cheats existed for the game. of course they released them after I had already unlocked everything but I guess really it's best that way since I earned everything legit.

actually, now I kinda wanna dig up the cartridge and play it through again.

however, I wonder how a remake of the game would be now. I have a feeling they will probably mess it up.

Goldeneye was great and all but Perfect Dark was better. It improved on everything that made Goldeneye good, plus added bots for additional mayhem.
The 360 re-release actually lacks that charm. I think because they cut the bots down in half which really bothers me (n64 had 8 bots I'm sure, 360 only has 4). It's a nice nostalgic moment of a game but comes up short in terms of what it was.
shadowwolf: yes the 4 bot limit on the 360 ticks me off too, especially ...

When this was out i was playing quake and then eventually quake 2 and all the mods on PC.... when my mates invited me over to play this i just laughed at them. Boy consoles were shit for FPS back then. Not only did this look horrible compared to anything on the pc at the time it played horrible with that stupid controller. I still don't understand this one on any level but i guess if you couldn't afford a PC this was as good as it gets.

why they just make a Golden eye HD (internet multiplayer and free look) like serious sam... Golden eye on GC suck and i hope they'll not do the same error....

Perfect dark isn't a James Bond franchise lot of my friend never played this game...But everyone played Goldeneye and if i ask, they wanna play!

I will always prefer Goldeneye to Perfect Dark. The levels in Goldeneye were just more fun to me, as were the multiplayer maps. The 2 different attacks per weapon in PD was great, but it also made for some really unbalanced gameplay. Guns like the farsight were cool in idea, but really cheap in practice. I also preferred the more modern theme of Goldeneye to the wacky sci-fi of PD.

I would really like to see a total revamp of Goldeneye, I mean like what hollywood is doing right now and going back and redoing the whole thing for a modern audience. A lot of the game would have to be reworked to actually be considered a good game in today's market, but even so I would be interested.

They are probably just revving it up for a Live / PSN release like they did with Perfect Dark.

Anyone who liked Goldeneye should definitely check out Quantum Of Solace. It can probably be had for 10 bucks now. Awesome game, good shooter in it's own right.
