GTA IV Mod Makes Things Prettier

As with a lot of PC games, the mod community proves that good games can be improved even further, with various additions. Word is that modder iCE La GlacE created iCEnhancer 1.2, which is going to bring a variety of improvements and enhancements to the PC version of Rockstar Games' Grand Theft Auto IV.

These additions truly make a difference. Installing the mode brings high resolution textures and car models, diverse new visual effects, and other cool stuff such as a zombie survival mode. The AI has been improved as well, allowing NPCs to be naughty and commit crimes and gives them the ability to carry bodies.

that looks almost photorealistic, question is how does it run on a decent pc?

Wow!

Might actually reinstall GTA again just for this, looks terrrific.

@jungi decent? you mean a quad-core sandy bridge and 2xnvidia 590s right?
it will run fantastic on that: anything else (a piece of shit)

You'll need a pretty respectable rig to run it comfortably, but certainly not as high-end as stewie here suggests. Certainly don't need an SLi or Crossfire configuration, for one thing. Most of these added effects are post-processing tricks, so you're not seeing anything like dramatically inflated polygon counts or shit like that. And keep in mind those new car models shown in the video are separate from the mod.

The author does warn about overheating on nVIDIA cards, though. That's more than a little alarming, since this is an amateur mod and thus has had no comprehensive QA testing, and no professional obligation on the author's part to ensure that his mod is safe. Be wary.

Damn, screw this mod then!!

That nVdia's cards can't run at full tilt because they're power hogs is nVidia's fault, not any modders. And yes, I do have an ATI card, but my previous three were nVidia: I'm no fanboy.
  Cheddar: So you think the overheating issue with this mod will…

Looks good. I'm surprised someone doesn't take this and actually make a game out of it, instead of a city traffic simulator.
