Half-Life 2: Ep. Three... Wait For It

In a recent interview posted on Kikizo, Vavle's Doug Lombardi explains more about their soon-to-be-released PC/X360 title, Left 4 Dead. However, a brief segment of the Q&A also discusses what the development studio means to do with Half-life 2: Episode Three. Actually, it's nothing much, but at least now we have a rough idea of when they plan to offer info about the game. Here's the word:

Kikizo: When are we going to start to hear about Episode Three? Because the gaps seem to be quite long based on the first couple of episodes.

Lombardi: Yeah, the next time you play as Gordon will be longer than the distance between HL2 to Ep1, and Ep1 to Ep2.

Kikizo: Won't you announce or show anything on Episode 3 this year?

Lombardi: We may at the very end of the year.

You can wait that long, right?

I'm all for taking your time to make sure the product comes out good, but COME ON. No info until the end of the year, which means it probably won't come out until late 2009. It better be one hell of an episode to warrant taking that much time. It's just getting ridiculous already.

They're probably overhauling the whole engine again, so it looks like a current gen game when the next generation of graphics arrive.

and i had hoped for the Christmas Box soooo much.

i really wanted to sit on Gordon's lap; he'd give me a candy crowbar and whisper.....they only come out at night, that’s why good children go to bed early.

Valve never disappoints. They can take as long as they like. You whiners should be happy that we have companies such as Valve still around.

totally agreed with Spcic. Valve can and should take their time to make this episode, after all Valve is the only company that has never let me down their titles are a guaranty of fun, excellent gameplay and even top of the line technology.

hey Half Life has not been called "the best game ever." without a reason

i think its pretty clear valve has abandoned the episodic model. they said that in several interviews that it ended up being the wrong word to pick for this short trilogy. anyway i just want them to kill off alyx, she's become excessively annoying. i want half life to become much darker again. i want them to bring back more variety of aliens and what not (from the original half life might be nice). i'm really sick of hearing antlions over and over. and all the npcs need to stop acting like gordon is god and sucking his dick constantly cause honestly, enough is enough. its a warzone, act like its one.

Yes, valve are the masters of fuckin developing, they never cease to get it right.
Every title theyve produced, ive played and thouroughly enjoyed.

Ill give them another year if they needed it.

And seeing as the topic has arisen, i wanna play as BARNIEY!!!! BLUESHIFT 2!!!.....THough and opposing force 2 would also be fuckin cool.

Ah well....I am a huge fan of Valve and Half-Life, but this time I would love to see some non linear gameplay. Valve is too good to be doing strictly linear games anymore.

Definitely waiting for this one.

Episode 3? or Half-Life 3? Because the whole "episode" thing really makes no sense when the release schedule is in terms of years.
