Half-Life 2: Episode Three Concept Art
This fine piece of artwork for Valve's upcoming title Half-Life 2: Episode Three has just been spotted. The image features a tiny figure of good old Gordon Freeman brandishing his trusty crowbar, surrounded by massive ruins of the Citadel - or so it seems. He faces what appears to be one of those giant, eerie Combine Advisors.

The released image is part of the Into the Pixel exhibit for the E for All Expo. Into the Pixel features 16 samples of game art, selected from numerous submissions from various artists around the world. The exhibit takes place between October 3-5, 2008. Also, it might be worth mentioning that the entry listed "Half Life EP3" for PC, Xbox 360 and PS3 platforms.

Just to remind you, Valve said they won't be showing Ep. Three at the E3 this year.

I enjoy the concept of playing Episode 3.

I enjoy the concept of Valve quitting this episodic travesty.

Or maybe he can appreciate movies and music made before he was born, unlike most of the stupid punk teenagers today.

I am far from being a teenager and I was quite obviously kidding.

On a related note, I'd just like to say that the word "travesty" is not used nearly enough these days. I disagree with un om bun about the Half Life episodes (I've enjoyed them all, but I'm eager to see them go back to full games), but I had to smile on seeing that word. :P

Ah, that's a lovely pile of scrap metal, that is.

These episodes take too long to be released. There is no thrill in continuing to play from where you left off 2 years ago. That only works with non-interacting media like TV or the movies.
Ofcourse I could be wrong.

I do agree that it takes too long between episodes. But each episode lasts for like at least 50% of the original (Half-Life 2). And every time the graphics are updated - to some degree. I encourage all of you to give episode Two a try - if you havent already. It kicks ass.
