Yet another one I can't play. :(
anyways exclusive titles r stupid if not on the PC they should be on 360 at least
and almost all DX11 features are also support on DX10/DX10.1 cards, so there is not allot of new things in DX11 DX10/Dx10.1 can't use.
DX10/10.1 both support OpenCL and both support DirectCompute besides that there is nothing else u want to use dx11 for.
also PC's have this problem of running a 512 to 1GB OS in the background while running a game, which is basically non-existent on the PS3/xbox360 (XNA/XMB only use 6 to 12MB in the background).
pc gaming has taken a dive due to Microsoft entering the console market, and basically slowing down PC chipset development by a good 2 to 4 years (intel/amd have both delayed their 2008's CPU's to 2011, please thank Microsoft)
it's so worthy of your time it only gets used on skin-textures (ROFL)
e.g. Split Second costs 20$ compared to 360's n ps3's 50$
heard the truth now happy
and nobody is going to use it to create vast landscapes, everyone is going to use it to add definition to a character which in turn causes the performance to suffer (and eventually developers will abandon it, like they did with TruForm) because a increasing in speed CPU is actually better at it (as developers found out with TruForm in the late 90's).
t's easier as I've found out to write a universal CPU tesselator which you will never have to update or patch once new gpu's come out (as new gpu's always break stuff).
why do you think games like Quake3/Quake4/Doom2/Doom3 have had so few updates? because it didn't rely on shoddy vendor lock in code from non-universal OpenGL/DX extensions.
also the Rage engine won't be using hardware tessellation nor any DX10 nor DX11 features, because it doesn't improve performance nor improve compatibility (as 50% of GPU's are still only DX9, and 60% of Windows users are stuck using Windows XP which means around 75% of users don't have access to DX10+)
windows XP is still the number 1 version of windows, and as long as that is the case nobody will ever fully use DX10+ nor DX11 (it's Windows XP's fault not the consoles)
and steam is only a small amount of users (2million is a seriously puny amount).
there are more than 200 to 300million people who play/purchase games and only 2 million use steam (ROFL)
100Million PS2's over 80Million PS3/xbox360 simple deduction would cause u to estimate over 300million people game on their PC, as those 150 consoles gamers also play games on their PC (excluding wii users).
so 2million steam users is a punitive estimations of the masses, as the vast majority of pc games are still sold on discs and not online (and the majority uses Windows XP).
the console market is saturated while the PC market is not, there is a potential to earn more on the PC (as long as u keep the games compatible with Windows XP, so developer say no to DX10/DX11)
