KotOR 3 Reports Resurface

Obsidian Entertainment is currently working on the RPG Pillars of Eternity, but according to a recent report at IGN, the company is considering other projects too.

Even though many years have passed since the last game, it seems that there's a great urge among the staff to create a sequel. "I think there are a lot of the people at the studio that would like to do Knights of the Old Republic 3," says Josh Sawyer project director on Pillars of Eternity. "I think at that time LucasArts was really focused on what they considered to be extreme, extreme blockbusters and even though the Knights of the Old Republic series was pretty successful, it just never seemed like something that was going to happen at that time."

Obsidian worked on games like Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic 2, Neverwinter Nights 2 and the recent South Park game. While KotOR 2 wasn't exactly as brilliant and polished as the BioWare-made predecessor, it still featured some pretty exciting moments, not to mention a top-notch storyline. So, would we be thrilled if they made a third installment?

Hell yeah!

EA is currently running its own Old Republic MMO, and Disney has made it clear they are only interested in casual games. In between these two realities I can't see it happening.

probably a memo passed around or something saying they would totally love to make a new KotOR just because that's what a lot of people want on the forums they browse or whatever.

Sorry, but no, I definitely don't want them to make another KotOR, they absolutely ruined the second one. I'll rather opt for none.

This whoring themselves out is getting pretty pathetic. This is like the umpteenth time they are trying to advertise themselves as the ideal studio for a KotOR sequel. OK, I understand they are desperate. How else do you end up making a Southpark RPG but come on, man, a little dignity ain't hurt no one yet. Begging on your knees for EA to cum all over you is really low.

Aside from that I hope they're not getting it. I know they probably want to put their PoE engine to use but fuck would that suck if they got to make a Star Wars RPG with that piece of shit engine from 1999 with the black borders and all that "old school" shit.
It's sad enuff that they couldn't be bothered to at least pretend like making an upgraded Infinity engine and instead went for a straight clone but no need to piss all over other franchises than their own with that kind of crap shit dung engine.

And I don't want another borefest in the Star Wars universe. KotOR 2 was boring as fuck. Obsidian's stories always are. They may sometimes have a couple decently written characters in there somewhere but overall the plot is usually like watching paint dry.
If I want anyone to make KotOR 3 then let it be a studio like CD Projekt for a mature and visceral approach but please no more BioWhore or Obsidian cartoony, consolized borefests. Pleeeeeaaaassseeee...
