Marvel Games Pulled From Online Stores

Activision is removing Marvel-licensed video games from digital services, such as Steam, Xbox Live and PSN. It started off with Deadpool, but other games soon followed.

The publisher was also forced to remove Marvel-based games including Spider-Man: Friend or Foe, Spider-Man: Web of Shadows, Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensions, Spider-Man: Edge of Time, X-Men: The Official Game, X-Men Destiny, and X-Men Origins: Wolverine.

So grab a retail copy while they have 'em, if you're that desperate.

No clear reason was given for this sudden removal. It was speculated though, that agreement to use Marvel superheroes might have expired as 2014 kicked in.

I played Xmen Wolverine for about 20 minutes on 360 before selling it for $5 on ebay. Not good.

Disney bought Marvel a while ago as well as Lucasfilm more recently and as existing licenses expire, they seem to be bring those licenses under their control. eg. Dark Horse Comics license expires this year so the Star Wars comics will be returning to Marvel in 2015, and no doubt Marvel games will be published by Disney or one of the companies it owns in future.

Capcom seems to be the only company that can make a decent Disney/Marvel related game. Well, Marvel Vs Capcom anyways is really the only game they are good at.
