The hugely popular indie game, Minecraft, continues to thrive with a ever-growing community behind it, despite the fact that the game is still on its alpha stage.

In response to a question on a Reddit "Ask Me Anything" thread, the creator of the immensely popular game gave a nice round figure, separating roughly 800,000 alpha version sales at the introductory �9.95 price point from over 1 million beta version sales at �14.95.

According to the official Minecraft stats page, 1,813,527 already paid for the game and that puts the total revenues for the game at over �23 million or just over $33 million (thanks Gamasutra).

Holy, if I may do say so myself, fucking shit!

	Reply What I love about this game is that it's a substantial raise of the proverbial middle finger to the mainstream market...and shows (in my book) that there's still hope in indie games. We don't always have to sit and wait to be let down time and time again by the mediocrity that the big players dish out.

	Reply i'm still not seeing the draw of playing that pixelated crap. stacking blocks on top of each other endlessly is something someone with ADD would find enjoyable. So maybe there's more ADD kids out there than we know.
