Life has become too full of daily crap. You come home from work, look after the kid, then work some more from your home, then you go out and see friends, then you waste countless ours on Facebook or Twitter talking about all that shit, then you play games, watch movies, read books and waste some more precious time. If you're really lucky, you get to have routine sex with a man, woman or a tree. After you're done with that, you stop for just one second to reflect and think to yourself: "My God, who the fuck am I suppose to be now?" And then you realize you don't know who you fucking are and you just start a new day, dipping into the same routines you've been doing the day before. Weekends are just a small illusion of freedom. There's only one "free" day during the week and it's call Saturday. The moment Sunday arrives, you need to clean the house or prepare yourself psychologically for Monday.

Is it the same for the rich and famous, I wonder? Or are they too busy sipping cocktails on yachts and snorting cocaine off a prostitutes bum?

Rich people have the same ennui. They just have access to more ways to distract themselves from it.
im_stardust Jun 20 2012, 03:51 am EDT
You did it to yourself. Once you get married and have a kid, you are truly fucked.
Vader [STAFF] Jun 20 2012, 03:56 am EDT
Not gonna be married for much longer it seems...
  RenegadeCZ: Hey, I'm sorry.
Vodoo: sorry to hear that. bear hug ?
Terminator: Very sorry to hear that Vader.
Vader [STAFF] Jun 20 2012, 03:56 am EDT
Just thought I'd mention that.
im_stardust: How are you gonna get rid of the body?
Vader: Easy. I know a guy...
im_stardust Jun 20 2012, 03:57 am EDT
But yeah, this is what life is about - routine, monotony...that's if you are lucky enough to be healthy or alive or not be spending most of your time trying to find something to eat.

I think the poorer you are the more life has meaning for you and the bigger the satisfaction you have when you succeed.

There must be a reason why some of us see life as being meaningless. Why?
im_stardust Jun 20 2012, 04:07 am EDT
Here's the perfect scenario:

Be poor, work hard, become very famous. Party a lot, fuck a lot, drink a lot, sniff a lot, eat a lot. Just when you are a bit over the peak... SHOOT YOURSELF IN THE FACE or kill yourself with a drug overdose.

You'll become even more famous. People are gonna talk about you and how good you where for years after your death...on facebook and youtube.

I don't see life as meaningless. I see people being slaves to modern-day society and capitalism. It's all about consuming - food, drink, art and money. The more you have, the more you need. You have to stop and appreciate life more, instead of wasting it on mediocre things that are constantly being thrown in your face.

Morning,

Nothing wrong with the daily routine, you just have to try and enjoy each moment of it and not wish it all away. Put maximum effort into each thing and do it well, even if it's a chore. Don't take a day for granted.

Between a nagging wife. a couple of annoying kids, an asshole of a boss and countless hours spent doing a meaningless work for him, I do not think you have time to be "creative" ( you might, if were one type of rare individual).

Probably the only way that can get you through the day is having a big sense of humor.
im_stardust Jun 20 2012, 04:28 am EDT
Or you could be like Michael Douglas in "Falling Down". Damn, what a great movie.
  Vodoo: i second that.
Breedy_Mcfluff Jun 20 2012, 04:36 am EDT
Life is meaningless and as a child growing, one becomes aware of reality and how it has a true lack of meaning and you eventually come to give life its meaning, not the other way around. It might be real obfuscated though, even to yourself.

We could get deep into philosophy which can depress the shit out of us all, or we could just try to be happy and ignorant and less racist.

Good luck out there. Enjoy some music: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ExlrdbvoBNc

Life is only meaningless to those who never realize that one can't only live for him or herself alone.

Individuality is the curse of the human condition, a state that we continually seek to remedy via our most fundamental instincts and motivations, conscious and unconscious... whether it's love or hate, sex or fighting, conformity or conflict. Everything living organisms do at every level of reality ultimately boils down to an agenda to share our existence with others, and 'combine' -- in one fashion or another, literally or figuratively -- into something more, something new.

Considering this, the point of life is clear to me. And, incidentally, the point of death, as well.

Blah blah blah dude things like "look after the kid", "go out and see friends", "watch movies, read books", "have routine sex with a woman" should give your life enough meaning. Appreciate the things you have.

Or you could just hang yourself with your pants down.

i always liked going away to a place where interactions with mass media and society is as minimum as possible, then i would ponder about what's wrong and i would try to enjoy every moment (once i was in a lake, for three days alone, without electricity)

you play games for a living. that's the dream of a child, but you aren't a child anymore. maybe you should take what you learned from games (which is what games are really for) and apply it to something that an adult would find rewarding. go be a journalist covering something other than entertainment. or if games must be a part of your work, make them. creating something is a billion times more rewarding than entertainment. trust me. i make games for a living. when you are an adult, it's way more fun than playing games. i don't even make big title games. but when you watch something smile playing the game you made... man... that is a high that playing can never give you.

Prozac, Cialis/Viagra, and Ambien. The Three Musketeers of middle age syndrome! (and the lesser respected 4th.... booze and lots of it)
