Two days ago in Washington DC, John Riccitiello, EA CEO and chairman of the ESRB, said "virtually everyone on the planet who owns a phone can play a game." While he uttered those words of wisdom, I can almost hear him thinking:

"Man, what if everyone in the world had a smartphone and they could all buy mobile versions of Dragon Age. Think of it, you're playing Dragon Age with a stupid-ass story written by a fuckin' 2-year-old, then you have plenty of generic dungeon crawling going on, a ton of repetitive fetch quests and crappy graphics that are easier to make than a tuna sandwich... Oh wait, we've already done that. It's called Dragon Age 2. So, the next logical step is to make Dragon Age 2 for every smartphone and eradicate every other developer who's working on any kind of proper RPG. Yees! Excellent! Smiitheeeeeers!!"

I don't know which company makes me more angry: EA or Activision. Would love to see both of them broken into several smaller companies!

Well, if people stop buying those crappy RPGs like Dragon Age 2 with generic dungeon crawling, short single player and other stuff, then those crappy RPGs would fail, No?

So, customers themselves are responsible for this degenaration of gaming quality.

If everyone buys those overvalued games, then it gives incentive to other game developers to not work too hard as well.
