Okay, folks, starting to compile the top candidates for our Game of the Year
feature. As you may have noticed that we have posted our Game
of the Year - People's Choice voting poll yesterday, so please vote for
what you think was the best game in 2012.
Currently Far Cry 3 is in the lead, followed by Mass Effect 3, Assassin's Creed 3 and Borderlands 2.
Funny, we continually complain how shooters are flooding the market and how we'd like to see something different. Well, there are different games in the poll - games that are actually good and not shooters. And, waddya know, the top 4 games in the poll are first-person shooters.
We're so full of bullshit, aren't we?
Personally, I voted for XCOM. Hm, or was it Diablo 3? Nope, definitely XCOM.
What did you guys vote for and why?
p.s. Just continuing the thread from yesterday.

VOTING POLL

I voted for FTL.
AAA games disappointed this year. I enjoyed Borderlands 2 with friends. It's very very fun in co-op, but it still blows in solo-mode. Only other worth mentioning is XCOM.
Also, props to Torchlight 2, Botanicula, Legend of Grimrock and Hotline Miami. I'm still to try some more indie games, I'm sure they will be fun.
And "FUCK YOU" to Diablo 3. Such a waste of money.
edit; Oh yeah, and Orcs Must Die 2. I'm playing it right now. Good stuff.
Playing a teenager, who suddenly is an expert in guerrilla warfare and needs to depopulate the area of wildlife, so he can craft weapons to kill people. And while he does this, he brakes his right hand and it's thumb 3085763 times, jumping over one meter ledges.
Is this your Goty? Get the fuck outta here...
Though... I haven't played Hitman yet...
Biggest disappointment? Dishonored. The only thing it didn't suck in was the graphic style.
so no opinion here
Okay, so:
- Torchlight 2 (very handily) blew away my sadness from Diablo 3,
- Far Cry 3 is exceeding all my expectations (and making me realize I finally need to upgrade my GPU)
- XCom has brought me kicking, screaming and SMILING back into the fold of turn-based strategy,
- Dishonored really took me by (pleasant!) surprise, and
- Borderlands 2 is an ongoing BLAST, but
Really? The Walking Dead is the only game that moved me to tears, multiple times throughout its "episodes". It's more than a game - it is truly an experience to be savored and remembered.
It should, at the very least, garner Game of the Year.
Borderlands 2.
p.s. far cry and crysis were always about reminding you that you have a shitty computer and you need an upgrade. Supporting the CPU &GPU industry since whatever.
F*** that sh*t you can make good games without eye candy graphics.
Fuck it, I'm voting The Walking Dead series.
