You know, playing Bladur's Gate right now feels... utterly weird and wrong. Timing
is everything. The RPG stuff is cool and all, but it's just no use, I just need
to hear fully voiced characters, I need 3D character models (damn, I never thought I'd hear myself say that, Vader you titfag), I need authentic-looking
surroundings and so on. Okay, I still need to progress a bit more. It's still
a classic, of course, but it's just not as fun as it was back in the day. It's certainly not fun as NWN. Sorry, but it's just not.
Oh and just so you know, I've banned the asshat who spammed every news post yesterday with some retarded ad or whatever it was. So, sorry for any inconvenience the dipshit might have caused you guys.

It was dumbed-down and grossly overrated in the single-player aspect, however. BIoWare didn't get that stuff figured out in Black Isle's absence until KotOR 1.
good decision that
I long ago realised never to go back and play an old classic, ruins the lovely memories.
hopefully though, Project Eternity will bring the warm feeling of old school RPGs into the modern era much like Legend of Grimrock did.
and speaking of LoG, there is another dungeon crawler i stumbled upon, less imposing than LoG but nonetheless keeping to the genre some of you might still hold fond....if you aren't already senile and forgotten even to put on a pair of pants before going outside.

But (to address both Vader's and Cheddar's comments), I had a similar experience with Planescape last year, about this time:
...over Halloween, a friend turned me onto all the updated mods, etc. that allow PS:T to run beautifully on our up-to-date OSes with proper hi-res/widescreen loveliness. I excitedly installed/set it up (no big hurdles here - a tedious, but overall, painless set of installs) and dove in...and grew bored and anxious to get back to my current games (Skyrim, etc.) very quickly.
I told no one (until now) of this old school CRPG transgression.
However!
Over the Spring Break (March 2012), I had two weeks to kill, and no money to do anything, so...I did a clean install, and the first game I installed was PS:T...and I played the HELL out of it, and enjoyed it all over again, as if it were the first time! :D
Guess you just have to be in the mood, even for classics such as these. ;)
While it lacked the elements of action RPGs that I'd come to enjoy, I quickly came to an understanding of the purpose and the joys of this new (old?) genre.
But then I lost my save during a reformat, and I am faced with the prospect of replaying half the game. That's a fuckload of clicking, but I'm sure it will be rewarding.
And jeezus crikey fester silently sounds like an INV that only likes to hear himself talk or in this case type. What are you like 40 something living with roommates way younger than you?
