Wow, I had no idea people were still that keen on the AoE series.
It would appear that an all-new addition to the franchise is in order. How about IT then MS (IT, IT I SAY)?

No I don't think there needs to be another Age of Empires game because one of two things will happen.
1) They reboot the game and make it to modern gameplay standards with DLC etc that'll be so far removed from the original that it should be a new franchise in it's own right, or
2) It's too faithful reproduction of the original titles and people will complain that times have moved on and that it wont be worth the cost of a full price release.
I think HD releases are the best way to go here as the games still stand up well and having them made compatible for modern OS with Steamworks intergration is a great way players old and new to play again at a reasonable pricepoint.
AoE 3 was a disaster.
And that tagline is still shitty.
