Namco Says Ubisoft's DRM is 'A Good Strategy'
Filed under: UBISOFT, DRM, PIRACY, PC GAMING, NAMCO
Namco Bandai Partners VP, Olivier Comte. commented recently that Ubisoft's controversial DRM system is "a good strategy" - albeit only because there isn't a better alternative at the moment he said.

Namco stressed that until something better is brought to the table, Ubisoft DRM scheme - which requires a constant Internet connection - is what's best. "I will be very honest. I think it's a good [approach] for one reason: I have no alternative today," he said. "Is the best one? Certainly not but as of today if I can make something else I'll do it, but it's better to do something than not do something."

it's better for him to think how to make better games with replayability so that noone will pirate them. How about that?
Alchi [mail] May 27 2010, 06:47 am EDT
It's a good strategy if you want to get rid of legit PC customers.

ehhh... i'll never know what sort of mind-bending drug is distributed amongst the people from gaming industry. i guess it's called "balance sheet", for sure not "client opinion"

Just make good games you fucking retards. I own every single Valve release and they're all better and infinitely more polished than your clumsy efforts. Stick that DRM in The Witcher 2 and I'll avoid it like the plague. The original version that is.

Actually, I don't own L4D2 and whatever DLC L4D might have had.

Namco agrees that anal probing is the only right measure against piracy!

Namco: privacy? we don't need to stinking privacy!
Anal DRM Copyright: Namco/Ubisoft.

Does Namco even make PC games? Who gives a shit what they fucking think?
un om bun: No, but they publish pc games every now and then.

I thought Namco only produced commercial pay-for remakes of 'arcade classics' long dead and gone that can be easily found as free flash versions online.

Will someone please show Namco the piracy rates for Assassin's Creed 2? I'm sure it spiked through the roof. Ubi's DRM is only good for driving away Legit Customers like myself.
Alchi [mail] May 27 2010, 12:15 pm EDT
Exactly.

I want to see AC 2 sales. And then compare it to piracy rate.

Anyone knows where to find that statistic?

I don't wanna google.
Jedrus [mail] May 27 2010, 01:21 pm EDT
They don't trust me, a legitimate customer, so I don't trust them and whatever they sell.
barasawa [mail] May 27 2010, 05:45 pm EDT
Wow, Namco is still around and ran by a douche... Imagine that.
Barzenak42 [mail] May 27 2010, 07:02 pm EDT
Adopt it Namco...I was not going to buy any of your games anyhow..
tarang231994 [mail] May 27 2010, 08:29 pm EDT
@Alchi me 2 i think 90% of the PC users have pirated it coz if the mf DRM
gameX [mail] May 28 2010, 05:06 am EDT
Just because of this statement I would downloading AC 2 and instal it on my beloved. I am not intrested in playing it but I would have pirated version on my machine and would seed it.
