Hey, look it's the old, blame-it-on-piracy routine. Almost two years ago now, Ubisoft confirmed that their game Ghost Recon: Future Soldier will be making its way to the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, as well as Windows PC. However, PC Gamer reports the game will be console-only after all, while and that PC gamers are going to have to make due with Ghost Recon Online. Ubisoft appears to have take a whole new approach to PC piracy. Here's what Ghost Recon Online producer Sébastien Arnoult has to say:
We are giving away most of the content for free because there’s no barrier to entry. To the users that are traditionally playing the game by getting it through Pirate Bay, we said, ‘Okay, go ahead guys. This is what you’re asking for. We’ve listened to you – we’re giving you this experience. It’s easy to download, there’s no DRM that will pollute your experience.’
We’re adapting the offer to the PC market. I don’t like to compare PC and Xbox boxed products because they have a model on that platform that is clearly meant to be €60’s worth of super-Hollywood content. On PC, we’re adapting our model to the demand.
“When we started Ghost Recon Online we were thinking about Ghost Recon: Future Solider; having something ported in the classical way without any deep development, because we know that 95% of our consumers will pirate the game. So we said okay, we have to change our mind. We have to adapt, we have to embrace this instead of pushing it away. That’s the main reflection behind Ghost Recon Online and the choice we’ve made to go in this direction.

No need to wish for it. It probably will be... if not the most pirated game ever, then certainly pirated, as much as any other console game.
They are getting a bit desperate it seems.
Prince of Persia ended with The Sands of Time.
Splinter Cell ended with Chaos Theory
Rainbow Six ended with Raven Shield.
Ghost Recon ended with Island Thunder.
I couldn't care less...for...hmpf...Future Soldier..
People are not aware of the magnitude of the consequences it would have.
But all we got in return was a fuckton of money... when we should have gotten a thousand fucktons more. FOUR HUNDRED PERCENT of pc gamers STOLE our BABIES off the pirate bay ! The thieving murderers raped LOVE itself !
On Christmas Eve we'll light ourselves on fire and FIVE HUNDRED PERCENT of pc gamers won't be there to stop us !"

I guess some companies are better at providing salable products than others.
anyway, if ubi decides to fuck with pc gamers (because it looks like 95% of us are pirates) then fuck ubisoft... first the bullshit DRM, now just bullshit.
btw... isn't ghost recon online going to have some online shop? oh yeees, pc gamers are thieves and you're so so poor. let me hug you, FUCKWADS.
now i should go and pirate something from ubisoft but then again - there's nothing worth pirating from them.
Q: how did france come to existence?
A: when the romans were marching to conquer british isles, they've left all the wounded, sick and retarded at the shore.
no offence to our friendly frenchies, luv you.
Lol. What? Are you talking out of your ass? Cos that sounds like ass talk to me.
1) This is an insult to your own game- it must be abominable shit for 95% of "customers" to pirate it.
2) Due to #1, this also insults pirates, as only shit would pirate shit.
I'm offended, Ubisoft, and it isn't even a real reason. :D
If they do, then they've been eating some really rotten Poutine.

Also, claiming that 95% of their "customers" pirated the game is, as many other have stated, bullshit. Just because someone pirates a game doesn't mean that they would have bought it if they couldn't, simple as that. A whole lot of consumers out there are young, or perhaps not just very rich in todays economic climate, and simply don't find it worth spending that kind of money on a game if there are more attractive games to spend money on. Not saying piracy is okay really, just that their statistics are bullshit.
I'm a 23 year old man, and my income isn't that high, a lot of it goes to taxes, food, bills and such imporant things, aswell as other interests like music etc. However, I still buy games, but I couldn't really afford to buy every game I find slightly promising, somehow I imagine that if games were a lot cheaper (not saying they aren't worth their price sometimes) a whole lot more games would be sold, and not just the most popular games. I at least would buy twice as many games if they were half as expensive, but maybe that's just me.
Every game I have is either came in a shitty nylon pack or in a shitty black plastic box, and is copied on a Princo/ANV DvDs.
