Aperture Science is pleased to inform you that we have partnered with Valve to announce the gala CANCELLATION of the June 14 Portal 2 event at the Regal Theater. The event will be replaced by a surprise. And even though the cancellation of the event certainly counts as a surprise, we are pleased to further announce that the cancellation of the event is not THE surprise. However, per International treaties regarding the definition of the word "surprise", of which both Aperture Science and Valve are signatories, the time, date and content of the actual surprise will only become available as you experience the surprise.
If you'd like to ask fruitless questions about the E3 Portal 2 surprise or, more fruitfully, schedule an appointment to attend a Portal 2 screening at the Valve booth during E3, please contact Valve's Special Envoy to Surprises, Doug Lombardi.
Thank you for **RECORD SCRATCH!!!**
PS: The surprising record scratch is also not the surprise.
Hmm...

Bring more Half Life goodness. Respect the fucking game that had PUT YOU ON THE FUCKING MAP!
I'd like to be wrong though, but considering Portal 2 was announced for this year and nothing big has really been released (trailers) I'd just have to assume that. Ep3 would be lovely, as right now I'm playing through the HL2 series.
Back when EP2 was in development Valve said that EP3 was being simultaneously developed, and should have been out 6 months or so afterwards. Unless they hit a MAJOR roadblock in the development of EP3, it seems that they've probably expanded its scope enough that it will be called Half Life 3, likely with some significant updates to the Source engine.
i love the idea it will be played in the arctic regions.....i love evil snowy fictitious worlds.
... SIGH... return to daydreaming about a new Half-Life game and Gordon Freeman in tights.
Of course the surprise could be episode 3 and portal 2 paired together, with trailers for both. Now that would make me jizz in my pants.
What would be a surprise if they would say " fuck Half Life - we're through with that thing in our lives, we want more L4D goodness"
But that wouldn't be nice surprise would it ?
A nice surprise would be "we've been secretly developing Ep3 and we actually have finished it, so as of tommorow it will be on sale on steam. And everyone gets a free Subaru"
Ahh... childish dreams.
You just can't not love Valve...
Still, portal 2 cancelled?Hm...the surprise will be a surprise, but set in the HL engine, Me thinks.
Hell, i want to see this more than Episode 3. Oh who am i kiddin, i will play EP3 in the HL1 engine even.
although a re-worked engine? that's allot more probable.
a re-worked engine which would use OpenCL on Windows/Linux/OS X.
with OpenCL u can eliminate all game-loading and off-load allot of the game code onto the GPU (physics etc) and have better shading.

"If you'd like to ask fruitless questions about the E3 Portal 2 surprise or, more fruitfully,..."
"E3 Portal 2 surprise" = Episode 3 Half life2
We can dream, but personally I'm waiting for Ep3!
