Portal 2 DLC Arriving This Summer
Filed under: PORTAL 2, VALVE, DLC

Valve is almost ready to share the details about the first downloadable content for the first-person puzzle game, Portal 2 (read our review of the PC version).

The DLC is so far a mystery, albeit we do know it will be supplied with extra more videos and comics, as Valve uncovers the info in about a week or so.

"We will be announcing some DLC for it, so folks can keep a look out for more content coming this summer," confirms Valve's Doug Lombardi told. "We'll be putting more details out about that in a week or so. We'll support that with more videos or more comics."

That was a very good opportunity not to ask Lombardi about HL3, and they took it.

I'd very similarly not take such an opportunity if I had the chance. Because that's what life is all about - not taking opportunities and then moaning about it later on.

Regardless of all that, Half-Life 3 should be made. Screw Steam, screw L4D 2 and everything else. Half-Life 3 should return with a bang and shake up the foundations of this rotting industry.

You said it. I haven't been really excited about a shooter since HL2. I used to watch those gameplay videos over and over again. Damn, they were impressive ! The pastel colors, the soft organic looking NPCs, the physics, controlling the ant-lions...
I wish they'd do something to make me feel like that again.

Not to mention the direction, the ambiance and the soundtrack in each one of those pre-release HL 2 trailers. Man, talk about hype... that was a fucking justified hype if ever I've experienced one.

Yep. You could see exactly what it's all about. Now we have mediocre games hiding behind bombastic trailers, with quick cuts that are meant to hide just how ordinary they are.

I'm not buying portal 2 until HL3/ep3 comes out. Well...maybe

Oh yes you bloody well are, because no matter what you or I happen to think we know about Half-Life or any other game from Valve, Portal 2 is still a damn fine game and at this point it's still a crumb thrown on the table to make us feel but a morsel of the HL universe... SOB SOB the bastards...

See now I'm all upset and it's un om bun's fault because he knows Half-Life is my weak spot and he always encourages my Half-Life enthusiasm, slowly awakening my inner Newell.

man it's been ages seen ive heard of those.
Vader [STAFF] [mail] Apr 28 2011, 07:16 am EDT
That's because I vomit at the mere sight of them.

This will be a true test for Valve. Will they charge for it, how long will it last, what new features will be added... DLC is, most of the time, a weak excuse for droppping out a portion of the game, but if they put in their trademarked effort we could actually get something worth our money. Fingers crossed.

Okay, I'll be a man and admit it. I got stuck about 2/3 of the way through Portal 2 (2/3 going by the number of chapters, that is). I took a break for a couple of days and came back and figured it out. It was a case of overthinking the problem. The particular part I was stuck on even had arrows hinting at part of the solution (and in my defense, I had figured the rest of it out, just not the part that was arguably the simplest).

My official statement is that I was too "smart" for that puzzle. I wanted to try a super-clever solution, and didn't see the simpler one right in front of my face. I'm definitely not too dumb to play Portal 2, no sir.
Alchi: The toughest puzzles are usually the simplest.
