Video game industry sales dropped 31% in June when compared to last year. "While this is solid performance for new IP, it's a relatively modest sales figure for any game capturing the top spot for the month," reveals NPD analyst Anita Frazier. As it turns out, Activision's Prototype is the best-selling game during June 2009:

1. Prototype (360) - 419,900 units
2. UFC 2009 Undisputed (360) - 338,300 units
3. EA Sports Active Bundle (Wii) - 289,100 units
4. Tiger Woods PGA Tour 10 (Wii) - 272,400 units
5. Wii Fit (Wii) - 271,600 units
6. Fight Night Round 4 (360) - 260,800 units
7. Fight Night Round 4 (PS3) - 210,300 units
8. Mario Kart (Wii) - 202,100 units
9. Red Faction: Guerilla (360) - 199,400 units
10. Infamous (PS3) - 192,700 units

As for the hardware chart, here's how the numbers break down:

1. Nintendo DS - 766,500 units
2. Wii - 361,700 units
3. Xbox 360 - 240,600 units
4. PlayStation 3 - 164,700 units
5. PSP - 163,500 units
6. PlayStation 2 - 152,700 units

"The Xbox 360 is the only platform to have realized a unit sales increase over last June. While Wii sales are down from last year, the platform is still realizing very strong sales month after month. Compared against historical performance of other systems this far into the console lifecycle, the unit sales performance is still strong," says Frazier.
