And I'm not saying this is a bad thing. It tells us that, FOR ONCE, this id Software game isn't just a hardware envelope-pushing tech-demo masquerading as a video-game. THIS time they're not just trying to sell cutting-edge graphics engine tech to the rest of the industry for licensing, using the game itself as a de facto figurehead for that purpose.
This is a change in id Software philosophy that I welcome. It means they've really, truly focused on the gameplay experience well above and beyond any other project agenda with Rage.
Unless they're very dumb, id Software must realize that. And they went right ahead with an engine focused solely on DX9 anyway, and so I think that speaks volumes as to their priorities with Rage.
Or at least, I hope it does.
Then the 9800GTX for recommended? the 9800GTX is only a rehash of the newer 8800 GTS's and again a Radeon 5550? a 5670 is nearly equal to a 8800/9800GT, and a 5770 beats a 9800GTX. so I think there is only a couple of reasons ether this game is crazily AMD optimized , or someone dont know Nvidia and AMD equivalence.
Those are some ridiculously reasonable specs. The thing I like about Id; is that their games look very much the same on PC AND consoles. Only thing is PC has much better graphical customization than a console... obviously.
Anyway... I'm really looking forward to rage. I have great hope that it's actually going to be a good game (or possibly more). However, the co-op missions seem a little disappointing to me. I would much rather be able to play through the campaign with a friend but have the choice of individual missions as well. That thought may be premature though. I'll just have to wait to find out.
I think I remember John C saying they would probably release a high rez texture pack for PC after they launch and quash anything unexpected bug wise.
