The first trailer has accompanied the press release:
As for the story, RE6 is set 10 years after the events in Raccoon City. "It has been ten years since the Raccoon City incident and the President of the United States has decided to reveal the truth behind what took place in the belief that it will curb the current resurgence in bioterrorist activity. Due to be by the President's side is his personal friend and Raccoon City survivor, Leon S. Kennedy, but when the venue suffers a bioterrorist attack, Leon is forced to face a President transformed beyond recognition and make his hardest ever decision. At the same time, Bioterrorism Security Assessment Alliance member Chris Redfield arrives in China, itself under threat of a bioterrorist attack. With no country safe from these attacks and the ensuing outbreaks, the entire world's population is united by a common fear that there is no hope left."
"From the outset the team's intention was to create an experience that delivers a gripping storyline, tense single-player and co-op action all set against a constant theme of horror. We are calling this fusion dramatic horror and are confident it will resonate with both existing fans of the series as well as newcomers," says exec producer, Hiroyuki Kobayashi.
Capcom's Katsuhiko Ichii, Head of R&D and Global Marketing added: "Resident Evil 6 represents a giant stride forward in the evolution of the series. The development team, led by Hiroyuki Kobayashi, is working tirelessly to deliver the most impressive Resident Evil title ever both in terms of scope and production values. We are all genuinely excited by the title and cannot wait to share it with the world."
The really good news is that Resident Evil 6 already has a concrete released date set. Capcom has promised to launch the game on PS3 and 360 systems (worldwide) on November 20, 2012, with a PC version scheduled to arrive some time after that.
Great news indeed.

Anyway if you miss survival just play some old ones, I myself replayed the one from gamecube, emulated of course. If only Eternal Darkness could be emulated or if I had a gamecube, that's the pinnacle of horror right there any kind of horror(Lovecraft).
It's not like they're oversaturating the market now is it, give me another zombie third person action shooter, a serious one not the Dead Rising series which is essentially a parody. Also RE4 was critically acclaimed when it came out, 5 was great also why not build upon the elders, even better in coop and of course, great boss fights. If you want survival you're gonna have to look towards the new Silent Hill, though I have my doubts about that one, just turn back and take a walk down memory lane.
Lastly I would hazard such a guess and say that survival is dead-er then adventure or so they say.Why well Telltale Games is pretty much the new Lucas Arts, and don't forget the Germans, they always come up with stuff such as the new cult classic The Book of Unwritten Tales or A new beginning.
Last game that tried it was the last Alone in the Dark and besides the bugs and ridiculous story, they had some pretty great ideas.
I'm aware of Amnesia, which is something a bit different
