The system requirements for The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim have been uncovered via the Bethesda Blog. Check it out:

Windows 7/Vista/XP PC (32 or 64 bit)
Processor: Quad-core Intel or AMD CPU
4GB System RAM
6GB free HDD space
DirectX 9.0c compatible NVIDIA or AMD ATI video card with 1GB of RAM (Nvidia GeForce GTX 260 or higher; ATI Radeon 4890 or higher).
DirectX compatible sound card Internet access for Steam activation

	Reply These are actually pretty fair. Except for cpu and memory, it's all pretty low. 6GB on HD is laughable these days and considering this is an open world game, packed with content, it's a bit suspicious. And those recommended graphics cards were considered good 3 years ago. So either Bethesda found some unknown, magical way to optimize huge, good looking games or this is just Oblivion with dragons.

	Reply Why were people thinking that this game's requirements were going to be really high? They have been using the same game engine since Oblivion and Fallout 3. Plus the fact that its a multplat game(has to designed to work on the weak consoles)

	Reply 6GB nice I'm tired of downloading 15-20 gig games that seem to be the norm lately. People seem to forget caps on bandwidth they even exist in the US.

	Reply This is on Bethesda's new "creation" engine and I could have sworn I read that it was 3 discs and a 22gig install for the 360. Lots more info from Skyrimnexus.com

	Reply They updated their blog because apparently a lot of people were asking about the 6 gigs. "Updated: We�ve seen plenty of comments relating to the game only requiring six gigs of HDD space. Don�t worry� there�s still a ton of game in there. The total HDD space relates more to the compression opitmizations we�re able to do with The Creation Engine. Not only are do we think you�ll be impressed with how the game looks, but also how much faster it runs."
