Sony Slashing Costs, Cutting 16,000 Jobs
Filed under: SONY, ECONOMY, PLAYSTATION, SCE
Many people were affected by the recent worldwide economic crisis. "Sudden and rapid changes in the global economic environment" will force Sony to lay off 8,000 of its 160,000 jobs by April 2010. Reuters reports that another 8,000 more will fired from "more temporary and contract staff."

"To stay competitive in the accelerating global network environment, we will always carefully review and make structural changes, if necessary, in order to further expand and strengthen the PlayStation business," SCE said to GamesIndustry.biz.

Sony Computer Entertainment (responsible for PlayStation manufacturing and game development) is going to be involved in the upcoming review.

Yep, it's a hack'n'slash'n'cut business.

Yes, this has nothing to do with the PS3's shitacular performance. Nothing it all. That explains the massive layoffs at Microsoft and Nintendo as well. What's that? There haven't been any? Interesting.

Yet another example of mismanaging. They spent huge sums of money on stupid advertisments for blue ray and now they cry poor. What a shame! No Playstation 3 for me.
