The worldwide phenomenon that is The Sims continues to be as financially successful as ever. The Sims 3 sold over 3.7 million units during the product's release month (June 2009), making it one of the fastest-selling PC titles of all time (damn, how many times have I heard that one).

During the title's first week on the market, it shifted over 1.4 million units worldwide, and became recognized as the best-selling game at retail in North America and Europe (there it is again). If it's proof you're looking for, look no further. These PC sales charts should provide ample evidence that The Sims 3 is every bit as successful as its predecessor.

Since we're on the subject, the franchise marked 100 million unit sales as of last August; the sales included both The Sims and The Sims 2 - plus expansions.

Those naughty little expansion packs! They're still out there multiplying.
