I also have to disagree with the above post claiming the only improvement over the first game was the graphics. That's nonsense. The presentation, dialogue, and voice-acting were FAAAAAAAAAAR better than in Witcher 1. I mean, it's not even comparable.
Witcher 1 had a nice plot in a broad sense, but it was diluted by terrible voice-acting, mediocre writing, and clumsy scene directing. Witcher 2 did an excellent job addressing and correcting those previous shortcomings for the sequel. More than the graphics, the clear improvement in that area is actually what I admire most about Witcher 2.
Witcher 2's main flaw was the combat system. But then, Witcher 1's combat wasn't much better. Less frustrating than Witcher 2, but still just as clumsy in terms of mechanics, and visually boring, when it didn't look outright goofy.
So that's the big thing Witcher 3 needs to address. And since the developers have already shown they could address their major shortcomings in a different area with success, I have some confidence they can do it in this area as well.
The first one was better imo, but I like this one just as much. I play games slowly, as well, so I have no issue with the length.
