The Witcher 3 Delay Due to Polishing

One of the most disappointing delay news of the year was that of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, which has been delayed to February 2015. Level Designer Miles Tost explained that the game was delayed for polishing purposes, not to add new content.

“Essentially we get one shot to do The Witcher 3 right [and] we could have released the game this year but we wouldn’t be satisfied with the result and fans wouldn’t be as well," he told Power Unlimited. "The additional time that we have is really something that we use for polishing and not for creating new content because that is mostly done.”

In other words, they don't want to release it out into the wild until they are sure it's done right. It could also be because CD Projekt Red didn't want to compete with the Fall 2014 lineup.

Well my first comment on this site after a year hiatus running my own site, Here is a tip don't do it. It's a pain in the ass.

Now as for why it's really delayed straight from CD Projekt Red.

The reasoning behind 2015 release:

- Less competition
- Improved effectiveness of marketing campaign targeted at aware gamers and not random gift-buyers.
- Better polished game: the last 20% of time stands for 80% of the game's attractiveness.
- More new-gen consoles on the market = more customers

Now onto something happier did you all know the new Deus Ex, and Mass Effect game will be shown at E3? Lets hope the developers don't change their minds though as it does happen. So fingers crossed.

I laughed at "one shot to do The Witcher 3 right." As if they wont release a Directors Cut Enhanced Edition six months later.

That's what I like about the game developers at CD Projekt Red. They are a lot like the old school game developers by not putting a game on the shelves that is full of bugs and problems. The reason I don't like a lot of the newer games is because you have to patch it before you start playing it.

I won't say this doesn't affect me, but I've consistently found that the desire to play the best possible form of a game I'm looking forward to always trumps frustration over delays.

It might not be worth the wait, but the wait is worth it.
