Prince of Persia already went through that, and now it is hard to give a shit. Same for all of the other franchises for me. Maybe I can offer the following note to some publishers:
Make something new, god damn it. This is an artistic experiment, not some teat on which to suckle. We will know if you're suckling, and eventually you will lose money for it. Assassin's Creed will get by on being the only annual sandbox game with a unique gameplay for only so long before the market thinks you're phoning it in. Guitar Hero and the Sims couldn't sell forever either. Games should be about novelty, because that's a large part of what is fun about them. Releasing sequels every few years instead of every year is a much more sustainable business model long term.

The Persian Assassin: Splintered Ghost
Splinter Cell too has fallen a ways from it's path. No stealth-based missions anymore. Now you just kill enemies all the time. Pathetic pieces of shit.
Mother fucking developers and publishers. Sequels and sequels and sequels. I hate to admit that I do love sequels, but it's really embarrassing when the only big games being put out on the market throughout the years are sequels. It's bloody disgusting.
