Ubisoft Compensates for DRM Downtime
According to a post over at the Ubisoft Forums, the France-based publisher will be compensating Assassin's Creed 2 owners who experienced recent server outages. There was a similar compensation offered to Silent Hunter V players recently.

Ubi said: "we would like to reward your patience if you have experienced any problems by offerring you some additional content – previously only available with special editions."

Thanks, GI.

What about the people who actually bought the special edition? You bone them over?

Good point...

Oh, so they're compensating people with content that they took out of the original games in order to sell overpriced special editions? oh, they are so generous.

Here's an idea for some compensation: Remove the damn DRM.

I thought this was pretty interesting if no one has seen this yet:

Nice to see the gamers rise up in the best form of protest they can - user ratings!

Reminds me of when author Cooper Lawrence illegitimately ripped on Mass Effect for its sex scenes, and all her Amazon book ratings got promptly destroyed.

Ubisoft is not "FRANCE-based", at least not until you move the FRANCE country inside of Montreal, Canada !!
shadowwolf: Um yes they are, learn to wiki. The company you are talking...

Whatever, just crack the shit out of those frenchies games and let them learn the ultimate price: you fuck with gamers, we fuck with you where it really hurts....in your wallets!!!

Nice one Ubisoft, first you bone over your PC fanbase and now you bone over the people that bought the special edition.

But personally, if they came with such an email promising free goods, I would tell them to shove it up their ass, I want the DRM gone.

Lovely, so intead of ACTUALLY compensating, they make their existing assets that were exclusive to Spec Ed freely available.

Whoever their PR dept head is, someone needs to sack him.

Ubisoft have decided to offer up some freebies to customers affected by their DRM implementation in Assassin’s Creed II and Shadow Hunter 5. Users were un able to play their games due to attacks on the DRM servers, which require all legit PC buyers to be connected to the Internet to play their games. According to Ubisoft themselves, emails have been sent out offering affected users free games from a pre-selected list.

To further anger the PC community Ubisoft have stated that all their games will require an Internet connection to play, however they said that a drop in their connection will no longer harm their save data. Regardless PC games still see this as a huge inconvenience to them, especially given that they had it in their hearts to obtain the games legally. It has become an ongoing fight, that Ubisoft will not back down upon.
