Uncharted 4 Game Director Leaves Naughty Dog for Riot Games

Justin Richmond, the game director for the PlayStation 4's Uncharted game, has left Naughty Dog.

"I have in fact made the decision to leave Naughty Dog," he told IGN. "I love the company and the people and know that they will continue to create awesome games going forward. On a happier note, after careful consideration and exploration I have joined Riot Games. There is some really innovative stuff going on here that I can't wait to be a part of."

Richmond was part of both Uncharted 2: Among Thieves and Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception. When Sony announced Uncharted 4, the company specifically said that Richmond and Amy Hennig, lead writer for the Uncharted series, would be involved. Amy Hennig left Naughty Dog earlier this month.

So in other words, the series is gonna go back to being like the very first Uncharted game.

Which was pretty much crap.

Btw, Richmond is really only leaving Naughty Dog for Riot Games because the latter can pay him a helluva lot more. That shit about 'innovative stuff' is baloney. Riot Games isn't doing anything more innovative than focusing on how to continue milking their enormous League of Legends teat.

Riot Games has only one game, it's been out for 5 years, and yet they still made 200 million dollars last year alone from it. And unlike Naughty Dog, Riot doesn't have a we-own-your-ass publisher like Sony breathing down their neck, taking away a huge cut of the profits.

Uncharted 1 was like an overly long tech demo... and a chore to get through. The 2nd had some decent writing and is my favorite so far. Uncharted 3 has some great moments (the cargo plane scene is pretty epic), but the writing wasn't so great and everything seemed disconnected. It was good but not great.

Time for some new blood, perhaps.
