Watch Dogs PC is x64 Only

Last week Ubisoft revealed the system requirements for the PC editions of Assassin's Creed 4 and Watch Dogs. Those specs didn't make one thing clear though. Apparently, the PC version of Watch Dogs will only run on a 64-bit OS. NeoGAF reader seems to have grabbed some specs that were posted on Ubisoft's Uplay store before the publisher removed them (thanks CVG).

Well, that's just swell.

Steam statistics show that 24% of the service's current user base does not have a 64-bit OS.

Here's the segment that was removed by Ubisoft:

  • Operating System: Windows Vista (SP2), Windows 7 (SP1) or Windows 8
Note that we only support 64 bit OSs. DVD-ROM:
  • DVD-ROM Dual Layer
  • Hard Drive Space: 20 GB
  • Sound: DirectX 9.0c Compatible Sound Card with Latest Drivers
  • Internet: Broadband connection and service required for multiplayer mode

Watch Dogs is going to arrive on November 19, so that's marvelous news - providing your PC is packs the hardware and the OS to handle it.

The Watch dogs requirements from last week were FAKE
The technical director on Watch dogs stated"These are not the official configs, The real specs will be lower"
Also anyone that knows a thing or two can just look at the requirement examples from then minimum requirements something seems off, First off both those cpu's have a good chunk of performance gap between them. Then we have the gpu's which the GTX 460 is in a different league of performance from the 5770.

Now the requirement of a 64 bit OS we have no idea if its true or not. People need to understand that watchdogs is also the 360 and PS3 and if pc version is scalable, doubt we will need a Direct x 11 gpu or a 64bit only OS. Now it could be possible that the PC version is only direct x 11 but really still dont need the 64bit requirement. There is alot of Pc's that have only 32bit versions of vista and 7 and it would be short sighted to cut out that segment of market that actually can run the game.

How the fuck is *anyone* (gamers) not running a 64-bit OS in 2013?

Are they playing games on a cash register? A pocket calculator?

I can already hear the barrage of complaints from gamers using 32-bit OS. Can't believe Watch Dogs doesn't support them.

I think BF4 is x64 only too. This is not real news, 4GB of RAM costs $25.... 32 bit is dead.

I agree, this is not news and not worthy of mentioning. There's not a single reason one should use x32 OS (except maybe, 32 bit systems are cheaper).

You can install a 64-bit OS on less than 4GB of RAM anyway.
FesterSilently: Yes. You can. But at $45 for 8GBs, why *would* yo…
