The delay of the Wii U version of Rayman Legends from the end of this month until September, which was done to allow time for PS3 and Xbox 360 versions of the game, didn't sit well with Wii U owners. The feedback Ubisoft received led to them saying that the Wii U would be receiving an exclusive demo prior to launch, but Creative Director Michel Ancel and Senior Game Manager Michael Micholic have revealed that you'll be getting an online challenge mode instead.

This news was confirmed through a video posted on the Rayman Facebook page (via GoNintendo) where the developers said that we can expect the free download on the Wii U eShop sometime in early April, complete with the following features:

• Daily and weekly challenges, each with its own leaderboard
• The challenges take place in 5 different worlds, each with their own unique gameplay style
• Those 5 worlds are: Deadly pit, land of the dead, infernal tower, the dojo, the dungeon
• You can play alone or with up to 5 players at the same time
• You can invite friends and filter the competition
• Each run is saved on the leaderboards and as a ghost
• History system saves all your performances
