In Vegas 2 weapons are closely tied to the game's A.C.E.S. reward system. The A.C.E.S. (Advanced Combat Enhancement and Specialization) rewards players by unlocking additional arms, but also encourages the use of new strategies during combat. As we understand it, this system is split into three categories and the players collect points for each of them. Each category refers to a specific type of weapon. If, by chance, you decide to employ explosives and various gadgets throughout missions, points are distributed to the appropriate category - in this case a category which denotes tactical style of play. As opposed to that, you may get points for pulling off numerous headshots, gradually working your way towards unlocking a sniper rifle. This doesn't necessarily mean that certain types of play are restricted to certain types of weapons. You may choose to pull off different attacks using any weapon you want.
With all the mentioned improvements, Vegas 2 also seems to promise an engaging multiplayer. For starters, 13 new maps were announced, as well as additional rewards, two new adversarial modes, along with an intuitive and perked up matchmaking system. One of the most welcomed facets will be the co-op mode. It's been revealed that the single-player maps were geared towards co-op play. Basically, if you're playing the single-player on your own, a friend can join at any time.
Even though little else is known about the game, Ubisoft says that Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Vegas 2 will arrive during March 2008 for the Xbox 360, PS3 and PC. The only thing that remains to be seen is whether the game will come as somewhat of a disappointment for PC gamers, similarly to its predecessor. Let's hope not. Then again, Ubisoft could very well use this opportunity to make up for any slight blunders made with the PC edition of the previous game.
