» All About Turok on ActionTrip

Judging from the media released so far, the game seems to be running very smoothly, relying on the power of Unreal Engine 3. The environments appear crammed with enough detail such as dense jungle foliage (most of which can be used for hiding) with animated grass, which the players may use as cover. Moreover, M-rated elements are also in there, so you may see a fair amount of blood and gore in the game. For example, if a dinosaur is standing too close to a detonated grenade, blood splatters all over the place, as the blast tears the poor creature limb from limb.

For what it's worth, Propaganda Games are making an effort to bring a worthy new addition to the franchise. With the prospects of engaging gameplay mechanics, combining stealth and action, Turok could easily wind up among some of the most popular FPS titles. To make things even more interesting for gamers, the developers also promised a multiplayer mode that supports up to 16 players. Recent reports indicated that the multiplayer will be online only and will sport 10 maps, 7 of which have been designed for competitive play (Deathmatch, Team Deathmatch, CTF, etc.) and 3 for co-op. By the way, co-op levels were designed specifically for 4-player co-op play and were said to be more than a mere rehash of the single-player campaign. We'll see how that works. Naturally, the online multiplayer will be playable via PlayStation Network and Xbox Live.

That's all we have for the moment, kids. The game is expected to hit retail some time in February 2008. Be on the watch for more info and media in the coming months.
